eBay Diagbox interfaces
#1
Searching for "full chip lexia 3 rev c" brings up 10 results, all broadly the same price.

Is there anything to choose between these? It's intended for use with a 2011 car, so I've no need for the latest revisions of software.

In general, this is what you want.

Diagbox is a program you install on a laptop; Lexia is a two-ended dongle which connects the OBD port to a USB port.

Search this forum for Diagbox; there's a massive amount of info and advice.

When buying this kit, the most important thing is to make sure that it really is the full chip version - cheap Chinese copies of the dongle cut corners by not including all the chips in a proper one, so check the forum for info on how to get that right.

The next step is that installation on a laptop can be a right pain, and this is such a minefiled that many people end up spending to get it preinstalled on a used laptop.

Lastly, not only do you not need the latest software version, but you may even want to not take the install to the latest version on the DVD (or download etc). Again, look out for advice on this in past forum threads.

One more thing I remember offhand, when installing, ignore anything which tells you to be online when you do it - you MUST be offline, otherwise the install will fail (this is pirated software).

That'll do for starters, but be prepared for an adventure just to get the thing working.

I was planning to start with one of the VM images in this thread,
https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-252...#pid154828

which is probably easier than attempting to install it.

You need the Lexia full-chip interface to use the software. No other interface will work.

Then use VMWare Player to run the VM. And you need to hand over the Lexia interface to the VM from the menu.

Gawd, there's a load of twaddle posted on these eBay listings. Big Grin This one appears to be the thing, what do you reckon Zion?

That one looks good, it's not the cheapest but it does seem very good and exactly the one you want.

Use the VMs I posted, they work so well compared to trying to install it yourself. Remember to hand the interface over to the VM, using devices > usb etc.

Thanks Zion.

Frankly, I'd rather pay a few £ more for less hassle, most of the cheaper ones seem to be coming from abroad. Aliexpress might be cheaper still, but you're fully on your own with those and I'm no Citroen expert. VAG is more my thing, heh.

I just bought a full chip Rev C version from ebay for £129

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224984619661

Downloaded a few VM's for it, until I learned it had to be V 9.68 for my year.

Haven't got it working yet, but it is seen by the Virtual machine and clicks away, but won't read the VIN and just returns no dialog on every test.

Hopefully it's my error and not a DOA unit.

You have to enter the VIN yourself, it's hacked pirate software, it doesn't function exactly as it would if it was able to connect to the Citroen system. (Which it can't)

Put your own VIN in the dialog when it asks for it, and it will work. It then carries out the global test and identifies all of the ECUs installed. At that point the number to the left of each system ECU, is the number of faults stored. Click a line to select that ECU or system and then click read trouble codes, etc.
