Hi, I just purchased a used 2011 Citroen Berlingo 850 Enterprise. The sticker located when you open the driver door on my Berlingo advises 195/65 R15 91T tyres.
I have a 2007 Xsara Picasso C4 and a 2010 Xsara Picasso C4, both with same body shape and 1.6 HDi engine. My mechanic told me the engine and gearbox in these cars are the same as my Berlingo and I have read that the Berlingo was based on the C4 car.
Both these cars have 185/65 88H tyres (tires) on them and their 'tyre' stickers advise use of these too.
195/65 R15 91T tyres can carry maximum load of 615 kg/1356 lb (load index is 91) and it sustains the maximum speed of 190 kmph.
I think the way you calculate total load capability is to take the load bearing of one tyre and multiply by 4, so 615kg x 4= 2460kg overall for these four tyres (not the van) can sustain.
The '850' in the 2011 Citroen Berlingo 850 Enterprise description represents the load capability in Kg I think, so cargo load of 850kg can be carried correct?
The 185/65 R15 88H tyres have load bearing capability of 560kg each and speed allowance of 220 kmph. Weight bearing of the four tyres would be 560kg X 4= 2240kg.
If I have this right in my head, either set of tyres way exceeds the total load carrying capacity of the Berlingo (850kg) so I think I would be ok to run the van through it's DOE (CVRT) van roadworthiness test with a set of 185/65 R15 88H tyres.
I have 2 full sets of wheels from the Picassos with good tyres on them.
Will C4 picasso wheels fit the Berlingo do you know?
The fact that the tyre sticker on the van specifies 195/65 R15 91T tyres, in your opinion, would van testers allow 88 rated load index tyres insted of 88? I am in Ireland.
My calculations indicate to me that they should be ok with it, seeing as either set of tyres can handle way for weight than a Berlingo can carry.
What do you think?
Sorry for the font size difference, I don't see a font size tab on the forum to make all the same size.
