Engine flush

Does anyone recommend flushing the engine when changing the oil?
I have changed mine twice (9 - 10k miles each with new filter) in past 12 months, without flushing and oil is black again within days.
Realise the importance of a clean engine (correct oil, turbo problems, dpf, etc) so if a flush is to be done what would the Forum recommend using?
Do Citroen flush when changing oil?
Have read the pdf on servicing, and it is not mentioned. Just importance of oil temperature and drain time.
Opinions, please...

Citroen don't flush it, unless you ask and pay extra.

I had it done once as they threw it in as a job clincher when I got quoted less by another main dealer, when it was under warranty.

I actually changed my oil today. It had done 8k since last time and I drained it then ran through half a litre of clean cheap oil to wash out the base of the sump. Then filled it up with Castrol GTX.

If you wanted to get it cleaner you could run it for a couple of hundred miles then drop it and fill with clean again, but it's probably going overboard. I bet it still won't stay clean for long.

Regular changes are the best bet for me, so I am aiming for twice a year.

No additives just good oil,

No need to flush diesels are just like that. Oil dirtys within 5 mins

If ya really want to do it, drain, fill with a cheap oil, run for a min or 2 and drain again. Then the proper oil

If you use good oil & change it regularly,there is no need to flush
When buying a secondhand vehicle use a good product(I use Forte),& flush.Then use good quality oil & filter.

Might drop it this week and refill with new.
Would you recommend new filter, or not after such short time?

Yep New filter, if your going to that effort oil filters are cheap

Definately change the filter,it holds a 1/4 litre of dirty oil.

Don't understand what all this worrying is about.

I know its not a 1.6 but with my 2.0 i do an oil change every 6 months and use Shell helix 10w40 or similar and the engine is sweet as a nut.
Keep the oil changes in sync with the sort of driving or mileage you do and yu'll be sorted.

Just as another point, dropped my oil on Friday after 4500k and even today when it was checked the oil was still clean. Amazing!!!

What or how do you flush the engine?? I had a guy advise me to put a half liter of Home Heating oil or pariffin into the engine and let it tick over for 10 - 15 minutes before draining the oil out...

Will do an excellent job of removing the lubricating properties of the existing oil from bearing surfaces etc thus rapidly increasing mechanical wear. Best done with the engine really hot then rev the knackers off it for 20 minutes or so to speed up the process of knackering an otherwise good engine.... then report back on how much engine you have left at the end of it.:whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle:

Wouldn't even think of it, if you value your engine buy a decent engine flush designed for the job...
