Lane assist problem
#1
Hello, this is my first post. The lane assist feature on my 2 year old berlingo keeps activating at random. Just driving down a minor road the light comes on and the steering stiffens for no reason. Tested it by crossing lanes (the road ahead was clear!) and it didn’t come on! The feature seems to work fine early in the day but gets worse through the day. Any ideas would be much appreciated.Ta.

it activates once you get over 43mph

Country lanes I disable mine - button on right hand side just below the steering column

You posted in the section for the oldest model of Berlingo. Yours is a K9 not an M49. Thread moved.

I immediately switch mine off as soon as I start the car. Can't stand the thing.
Now a 2019 K9 1.2 petrol.
Before a 2010 B9 1.6 HDi diesel.

Perhaps try giving the camera area high up on the screen a good clean

I’m not sure if the sensors in the grill are lane assist or not, but give them a good clean too

Failing that, perhaps undo the battery for an hour and see if a hard reset calibrates things from scratch

If you undo the battery you can end up with a corrupted BSI, never just disconnect it. Wait around 5 minutes with the bonnet up and all doors closed, if you have an alarm then you need to tape down the bonnet switch at the front, then wait 5 minutes, do not touch any door handles, or open anything including the boot (any of this wakes the BSI again) and only THEN can you undo the battery.

Disconnecting while the BSI is awake, is very very bad. Always remember this. You may get lucky. Better not to try.

I have lane-assist...it's called EYES!

Most useless add-on to a car ever. If you can't stay in your lane by yourself, then you should be indoors getting your Horlicks made for you by the nurse.

I never knew this about the battery, I must stop doing it then!

Yeah it's not a good idea. That's why the BSI reset process exists, the first part lets you disconnect safely. The second part lets you bring it back online safely.

Ever turned your PC off at the plug while windows was running ? Same situation. Can be ok, but can be very bad, depends on what the processor was doing when you switched it off.
