replacement seat foam
#1
I have just replaced the seat foam on my wife's 2004 bling multi space and thought I'd share the experience,. When sitting on them you could feel the seat frame/springs. 2 seat base foams off e bay shipped from Germany were about £100.They arrived in about a week.
Start early and plan on at least 1/2 day for each side.
Tools
t40 wobble socket or wobble adaptor for seat frame bolts, and extension and ratchet handle  plus 8mm socket. I used 1/4'' and 3/8" drive.
plain screwdriver
Pointy pliers
Normal pliers
pointy thing ,pics etc.
Zip cable ties
Hog ring pliers if you have them.
Torch.

The car will be immobile while you complete this job so plan where you will be doing it .one door will be open and you will need a table or bench to put the seat on while you work on it. (1/4 sheet of ply on top of 2 workmates) preferably on the same side as you're working on.

Remove earth cable from Battery, (8mm socket) and cover batt terminal with insulate ( I used rubber glove stuffed on.) leave car for 5 mins.

Passenger side.
Slide seat forward, Remove 2 rear torx bolts and washers leave on floor ,note spacers. and holes used.
Slide seat back remove 2 front bolts
Tip seat backwards carefully!!!!! noting  wires/connections do not tug or break connections.
disconnect connectors .The 2 wire one(brown) is easy as you can see how it comes apart.
the 3 wire one is tricky as you have to remove it from the black plastic tray. there is a  release tab you have to push with a probe/tiny screwdriver and drop it off the tray . The red flap then can hinge upwards , be gentle do not break it. and there is a tab you need to release with a probe and it will come apart.
Once the seat wiring is disconnected from the cars harness you can lift the seat out and put it on your bench/table. Remove the head rest. be careful it is quite heavy .
Undo the small torx screw holding the plastic trim piece at the seat pivot point.
Slip the side plastic trim pieces down and flip em off the sides of the seat.
Turn the seat upside down so it rests on the top of the base
You will then see how to proceed.
The elastics need to be released, easy
There is a steel rod at the front which is held by hog rings or cable ties. release it.
You will see several small holes in the foam through these you can see the plastic clips which hold the cover to the foam. (The foam has steel rods embedded into it) You need to reach through with a screwdriver and a small one  and release these clips carefully as these will be needed to hold to the new foam and should be undamaged to re use them. There are 2 hog rings at the back on the side holding felt to the foam.
Remove the Knackered foam replace with new, you will see how the plastic clips attach to the steel rods  they need to be pushed on and click and they will hold firm .Centralize the cover replace hog rings/ zip ties underneath.re attach the plastic side pieces on to the side trim holders noting key hole cut outs. Re attach pivot point trim piece, do not overtighten the screw finger tight.
Replace seat in car reconnect  connections . you might have to zip tie to attach to plate. keep it high.
Put the four bolts back in the runners. re attach headrest .Re connect battery and your done .
Check your work area floor  for dropped hog rings they will love a tyre
If you feel unsure as to where everything is ,take photos with your phone and you can check on reassembly.

I think I have covered everything ,there may be things I have missed and you will have t use your judgement and skill in some areas.
I was very pleased with the result , and think it was well worth the £100 for the new foams.
Good luck if you try it yourself .

you don't have heated seats?
That's another layer on top of the foam. Long time since I did it, but don't think it was difficult. Not that the heating works anyway. It's usually the first thing to break...

on my last berlingo a 2004 mulitspace. the seat was terable and i could feel the frame across the front. i stripped mine (as you have ) done it in the garden on a nice day i had it out stripped and back together and back into the car in around 5 hours. i found the front part over the frame was split right across i lifted the foam from the frame and used spray adhesive to stick any split parts back together..i then fitted the foam back into the frame and then i shaped a compleat layer of 1 inch foam over the seat base,i used spray adhesive to fix this .after letting it all dry i refitted the cover .after some hard pushing and shoving it all whent back together. and wow what a differance to the comfort. lasted till i sold that car and brought my next a 2005 berlingo multispace 2.0 hdi... (just love em ) and this seat is going the same way so i can feel another rebuild comming on. this is a big problem with the berlingo as a lot of people come on here asking what other seats will fit as theres give em a dead ass.

My ass has been dead for donkeys' years!

This is actually very good advice especially since M59 parts are getting thinner.

It is well worth the money for brand new seat foams ,while they are still available .Remember you are only glueing knackered foam together so will never be as good as new . Happy Blinging.
