While I'm doing the clutch, may as well do the gear cables too - they were pretty seized, putting them next to the exhaust with next-to-no heat shielding is a "great" "design" "feature".
They come out easily enough - remove the dashboard bits, disconnect the inners and outers from each end and PULL, but getting them back in is bit trickier, as the rubber grommet and plastic clip is tricky to get through the floor at the correct angle.
Top Tips,
Silicone spray, liberally over the floor opening, and the grommet.
Pass the cables through, and pull the outers through as far as they go (ie, the ends are against the grommet inside.
From under the car, grip the outers and PULL. With a bit of wiggling, the white plastic clips will pop through and latch.
From there, bit of spray on the outers, and they can be carefully pulled back into the car as far as they need to be.
