Disable the ECO stop/start
#1
Hi all, I have disabled the ECO stop/start system by using a discrete black rubber band around the ECO stop/start switch... Just remove some of the trimming around the switch, remove the switch, apply the rubber band and reassemble.

Until now the system has not complained that the switch is pressed at all times, so guess it will keep on working

And?

Why disable it and if you want to disable it, just do it in the menu settings?

I don't think I am able to disable via the menu system in my Berlingo 2016. The reason for disabling are too many short Stop/Start only saving a few seconds, which I think will wear out the starter and battery

On a stop start vehicle, the starter and battery are designed to take that use. What are you worried about, nothing I think.

Stop over thinking it.

You may be right, however my car already has got the battery, starter motor and Stop/Start module replaced at a cost of 1200 GBP (10.000 dkr), so I just wonder how much diesel I could have bought for that money, and how many other ressources have gone into this for saving a few liters of diesel during stop/Start

Ah ok yeah, I get it. It's something I've never wanted to have.

S&S starts the engine by the alternator. I still would not want it to fail, it's a pricey unit.

Ok, interesting, never heard about that before, but I can see you are right, it is called a reversible alternator. Don't know for sure if my blueHdi uses it, 2016, 99Hp
