A little more help please. ABS light on
#1
My new to me 2014 Berlingo still has a few issues, my TopDon scanner picked up a few faults which I posted in another post. But would not give me specifics, however I managed to get my Wurth Snooper diagnostics working, ran a scan and came up with a “ front left ABS sensor” issue, I replaced the sensor today and cleaned the ABS Ring, however the light came straight back on. I know it flagged a few BSI ISSUES Too & wonder if it’s related?
Once I come back off holiday I’m going to get the EBay Lexia scanner, but would anyone have any ideas where to look in the meantime?
Thanks

Before diving in I'd try checking out the cable to the sensor plug with a multimeter for continuity / short

It may just be a simple solution

I just wonder that you replaced the sensor yourself, or done it at an unreliable garage. When I buy my van its ABS light is also on, and the dealer said he will find a garage to replace it for me. However, after only 2 or 3 days it was on again, I go to a local garage and these guys said they didn't change the sensor at all and just use some programmes to forbid it. If so you will find the cruise control is unable to use as it requires the same sensor from ABS. So if you replace it at a garage probably you can try another one.

LOL front left is a paint in the A$$ . strange it that its almost only the left one.

Solution. Take off the ABS sensor. Clean the aeria behind the sensor. use a flat screw driver and get rid of all rust and make it shine. Then you clean it with brake cleaner, Clean wheel bearing also.

Mount it back together, and i will almost guarantee it will work agian.
The problem is that rust is building up begind the abs sensor, and the sensor it to far away from the bearing. then you get the ABS/ESP Fault

I shall try, I did clean & wire brush in a drill, the area, but I will give it another go
Thanks

A wire brush tends to polish any built up rust rather than remove it.

Give the area a good tapping with a sharp object (small pointy hammer) and any build up of rust will chip off, sometimes the surface looks ok until you hit it then you will see the rust chipping off to reveal a clean surface below.

You want a needle de-scaler if it's heavily rusted .... look them up.  Cool
