Warning light code P0495
#1
Hello,

So last Friday I was sitting in stand still traffic for a while when my warning light decided to come on ( the triangle with the explanation mark in solid orange) any way carried on creeping ended up taking a detour and the van was in limp mode but suddenly saw the van overheat, so I quickly pulled over and shut the van off checked under the bonnet and coolant was still good so just assumed it was my fans not kicking in.
After getting home and doing some research I read the fan relay is pretty common but ended up getting the AA to come out and run diagnostics on it and he confirmed it had fault codes p0495 and p0494, so ordered a new fan and relay and the van works great until about an hours worth of driving (all motorway) and the light comes back on. If you turn it off and leave it 5 mins it’ll take a while to come back on
I’ve checked fuse 21 and that’s good
Any suggestions on what to do next?

It’s a 2018 75hp enterprise

Thanks paul

Did you replace the fan speed controller? It's bolted to the radiator on the front top left side as you crouch in front, looking at the grille.

It's the likely fault now.

Is that the relay? If so then yes I did I replaced the fan and the fan speed controller but wasn’t a genuine relay

Read that it could possibly be the coolant temp sensor but the codes I got both said

P0495 radiator fan set/actual speed difference signal invalid
P0494 radiator fan control radiator fan relay signal invalid

No the relay isn't the fan controller. Did you change the control module bolted to the upper left front of the radiator?

This is the part number I changed 9673999980
It’s at the top left of the radiator

So yeah that’s what I replaced, but wasn’t a genuine part was just one from Amazon.
I find it weird how it takes an hour for it to come on, yesterday was the same drove an hour got to the dartford bridge and it come on. Same again today driving to work, got about 10 mins away doing 70mph and it come on again

Yeah sounds right, if its this gadget then yep:

Next is the Engine ECU which controls it. Not so good, could involve some wire tracing and testing.

Thanks Zion much appreciated, unfortunately that’s well out of my depths when it comes to wiring

So after reading another thread there seems to potentially be another fuse box with 50a fuses that could be the cause so hoping to look at it during lunch and hope it’s the problem!

Yes those are the MF fuses (MasterFuse) but may be hard to get hold of, they are under the top tray of the main engine bay fuse box as shown in the attachments:
(MF3 - 50A is probably the one you want)
