Rear suspension
#1
After getting the AntiKahnt fully loaded, it seems that she's not quite as stout as my old lwb Transit Connect. She's slammed lower than Cheech and Chong's Impala I'm sure there's many on here who pay good money for this look, but I'm not keen on riding near the bump stops.

Given my "van" is a Multispace, I expect it's got the light duty springs and shocks from the 600kg van model, so I'm thinking swap them out for the 850 van ones. Hopefully that'll give it half a chance of not bottoming out at the merest hint of a bump

I would say you are correct, the only Multispace models that had the higher ride [heavy duty] suspension were the XTR and the ultra rare 4x4 models. I have an XTR model and had to get the heavy duty springs when one of my rear springs snapped.

I thought I was the only one who liked high rides!

The 4x4 ones are conversions by a French company called Dangel.

Maybe you could find an XTR being scrapped somewhere?

There should be a few being broken on eBay for example, that's how I got my roof rails, they are from the XTR.

Definitely will benefit from heavier duty springs. I reorganised my gear on the return journey (100 miles from Bournemouth to London) so that the weight was biased more to the front than over the back axle as was the case on the way down. She was very stable on the return journey

Not sure I would go for used springs, as you never know what kind of a 'previous life' they've had.

Maybe, I've been lucky in the past but in over 40 years of driving numerous different vehicles, the only springs I've ever had snap are on my present Berlingo B9 Multispace XTR which I bought used back in 2016 which I'm pretty sure given all the hay found under carpets seats etc had been used for transporting large amounts or horse paraphernalia in the past probably leading to the springs being over stressed.

Don't worry man, I've got no intention of going for breakers parts for this. Especially when a set of springs is sub £100. The only issue I've got is sussing out what part numbers I need. I think the heavy duty spec is 410mm length with a 13mm diameter. The standard is ~390mm /12mm
