Hi
#1
Hi all, I have just bought a 2012 XTR. I need to have a look around it when it stops raining.. Sad  The cam belt was changed about 6k miles back but no mention of the waterpump, should that be changed at the same time ? And there is a very loud buzzer when I select reverse is that normal?
And as the user name might suggest I am on the Isle of Wight.

Normally the water-pump is replaced at the same time as the cambelt as it usually comes as a complete kit. Can you not check with whoever you bought it from, or if there is paperwork to state who replaced it check with them if they replaced everything?

With regard to the buzzing when in reverse, do you mean from the gearbox or do you mean some sort of audio buzzer when in reverse, neither should be happening? If it is the latter then maybe some sort of aftermarket reverse sensor has been fitted [poorly] or has the car got a tow bar fitted, as that can often cause problems with reversing sensors?

Also you will get more answers if you post questions in the specific model sub-forums. Your model of Berlingo is the B9.

I'd just replace the pump anyway, it is not that expensive and saves a lot of work if you don't and it goes later on. I think that's standard practice and prolly why it wasn't mentioned.

Does the buzzer come on when you select reverse, or only when you actually drive off in reverse?

The belt was changed at a main dealer no receipt for the work but I may just do the lot again to be sure. the dealer is not that good a previous car had the battery down as an advisory because it was 7 years old.
The buzzer is very loud inside the car when reverse is selected.
And just for fun it is listed as an HDI 91 which does not seem to exist..

Quick edit to add, I removed the offside light cover and found 2 wires added into the loom so I cut them out and the buzz izzz gone Wink Why someone would put a very loud buzzer in the car is beyond me.

The buzzer must be wired to the microswitch on the gearstick which operates the reversing lights. Should be simple to trace its wiring and snip. Maybe it was installed for a blind driver.

Maybe the previous owner was only blind in one eye.

Welcome to another forum with great advice.  Big Grin

We need to have a sub section, Berlingos with small bikes?

Perhaps a pic or two when you get the rack and bike on?
