[Warning Light] Electic issues berlingo 1.4i

Hi all.

Just bought a berlingo 1.4 petrol but ran in some trouble this weekend.
Picked the car up last friday and the half hour drive home was troubleless. 
When i wanted to start the car saterday it had a flat battery. Replaced it with anouther one and it started again.

Then changed the speedo sensor, which didn't solve the dead speedo, and washed the car.

Sunday morning, the car started fine but within a few meter all the lights en dials started flashing and moving and the wipers came on. Shut the car off and it wouldn't restart. Charged the battery again and same thing happend.

Asked some friends that are mechanics who pointed to a bad earth or overcharging altenator. Is this a berlingo thing or am I just unlucky

It could be a bad earth cable or connection, as it works and then doesn't. Time to properly check the ends of all heavy cables between the battery and body, battery and engine, body and engine. Anything loose or corroded should be fixed before anything else.

Check the main bolted connections on top of the fusebox in the engine bay too.

Slack connection is most likely the problem. Check the simple stuff, don't over think it.

And check all bolted fuse connections on the battery cover fuse "panel" are tight enough. (Don't go nuts with spanner here though, just tight enough ok - copper and brass is easily damaged.)

I have had similar issues with my Berlingo. It very much sounds like bad earth(s). Unbolt them, wire brush the bolt(s)/terminals and chase the threads of the mounting points with an appropriately sized tap, then bolt back up again. Let us know how it goes

The berlingo is back. A broken wire from the alternator was the cause. So now I can start my Berlingo life
