[Engine] Clutch pedal notch/click
#1
2016 hdi with hydraulic clutch. When depressing clutch pedal there is a notch/click about 2/3rds way down. It sounds worse with the door open, but may be illusion. No problem with pedal on the way up though- Any ideas?

Could be the helper spring unit at the pedal or something on the clutch actuator at the engine bay end.

Yeah, I'll have a quick look up under there. I had a look in the dark at the slave end, but not much to see really, just the plastic lump lol

Could be the release bearing is sticking a bit and the fork is jumping as you lift off, to hit the end of the slave rod.

Best to get someone to do it while you observe the clutch end.

Ok an M59 .... but ....

on my M59 with hydraulic clutch I had a similar sound it turned out the be the shaft which connects the slave to the pedal clevis was loose and at the point of being fully unscrewed.
Easy to sort out on my wagon.

Maybe you have a similar issue ?

Another thought, does your model have plastic bushes on the pedal pivot ?
M59 has them and they do wear through though are cheap and easy to replace.

I'm having this exact same issue , only happened after new clutch. Let me know if you get to the bottom of it. Thanks

Good shout on the pedal bushes Geoff, not certain, but I expect the B9 has them too.

Hejboy, have a look on CatCar website for info ..... There are pedal bushes

Not sure of your exact model but here is an example of a B9 engine / gearbox type and associated pedal assembly ....

Thanks all. I'll take a look tomorrow after the annual inspection. It shouldn't be too worn, as it's only done 35K miles and all long journeys with little clutch work. Having said that, the fan resistor broke earlier this year.

Had a quick look up there just now. Of course, it's as smooth as silk now! Everything is like new, even the fresh yellow factory grease on the spring thingy. I splashed a bit of silicon grease around in the vain hope it might actually do something. I'll try and find someone to press the clutch for me so I can look at the other end and see of the fork/actuator is moving freely (if it plays up again, that is).
