Slick50 opinions

I have been recommended Slick50 as an oil additive by someone whose opinion I respect. I have googled it but in some reports/ forums I have read negative stuff about it. Namely that although it does reduce wear on the cylinders it can also clog small passageways, so reducing oil flow. Any thoughts on this?

i wouldnt use it think oil has come along way forward now a days

10-15 years ago Slick50 was an excellent product, so thick you couldent get it out of the can without heating it, Great for quietening worn engines and it improved performance.
The modern product is like water in comparison and in my opinion about as effective. In the days when we all seemed to use 20/50 oil it may have been usefull, but not now we use synthetic oils
it may even cause harm.

Martin will have a view on this as he did oily stuff back in the day.
I wouldnt put it in a modern engine-like talos says it was ok for filling up the gaps on an older lump but engines have also moved on .
And also warranty claims investgators.
I read a review done a few years back by a motorcycle enthusiast engineer He did a comparison on mineral oil with the new synthetics.
He ran test mileages on both types and had them analysed in a lab.
There were particles of all the different metals used within the engine in the mineral sample but all they found in the synthetic sample was a tiny trace of chromium from the bikes piston rings.
Which sort of answers your enquiry.Modern oil looks after the engine well enough.
Keep a good clean airfilter and that will also minimise top end wear.

LOL, I had forgotten about Slick50. Many, many moons ago I used that stuff on the old wrecks I was driving. Things have come along way indeed since then.

That pretty much confirms what I had decided. Thanks guys for your comments. Most of the reviews I read said the same. I thought it may be an interesting topic tho.
