[How To] replace front brake pads on M59 (Mk2)

1. Removing
Untighten the wheel screws.
Lift and support the front of the vehicle.
Remove the front wheels.

Push the piston back (levering at a).
Check the brake fluid level.
Remove bolts (1).

Tilt the brake caliper (3).
Remove the brake pads (4).
2. Cleaning

URGENT : Do not use compressed air to clean the brakes

2.1. 1st possibility
Clean the disc and the brake caliper using a recommended brake cleaning product.
Allow to dry and to drain.
Wipe with a paper towel.
2.2. 2nd possibility
Use an approved dedusting instrument (refer to the Material and Equipment Catalogue).
Visually check :
The seal around the piston
That the protective gaiters are in good condition and correctly adjusted
The wear of the brake disc
3. Refitting
Refit new brake pads.
Tilt the caliper (3) on its support.
Refit screw (1), Tighten the bolt to 3 ± 0,3 daN.m.
Refit the front wheels.
Refit the wheel screws.
Apply the brakes, with the engine running, several times before driving the vehicle.
Return the vehicle to its wheels.
Tighten the wheel bolts to 9 ± 1 da.Nm.

All good,but I use copaslip to prevent siezure/squealing on pad backs & calliper slide.

Haynes recommends replacing the bolts (1).

Does anyone do this - and why ?

Just replaced all brakes and discs on my mates mondeo, rear pads came with two new bolts for caliper, front did not!

Pads should come with replacement bolts that have thread locking compound on them.
