Poor acceleration and won't get past 70mph
#1
I thought this was normal until I drove another one..

My 1.9D Forte Multispace is really sluggish. (2001, 80,000 miles)

It starts first time really well and revs up too. Around town at low speeds it's no problem at all.

I know it's no rocket ship anyway but mine really struggles once you want to get going.. I have to literally floor it on the motorway and it still won't climb over 70mph. And it takes a while to get there too.

My first thought is that the Cat could be buggered but it doesn't sound bad and the whole exhaust looks only a couple of years old. It sailed through the emissions test for the MOT only two weeks ago.

It was fully serviced about 6 months ago with a new air filter.

Anyone got any ideas before I get a compression test done ???

Ta, Ed

Motorway performance of 1.9D is poor, mine was always happier at 65 than 70 & it embarrassingly slowed down as soon as you hit an incline.
