Won’t start, BSI reset?
#1
HELP needed!

I have a 1.6hdi and it wont start it started 2 days ago but since then i have had the battery disconnected! Im pretty positive it just needs a BSI reset but the keys don’t have any buttons to carry out part of the reset! I’ve read somewhere about putting something across the starter motor to get it fired up!!

Does it turn over , just wondering about the  " putting something across the starter motor"  comment.

All connectors were refitted to the battery when you connected it back up the first time?

Open the bonnet and switch everything off and leave alone for ten minutes, That gives it time for the system to power down. Then disconnect the battery.

Leave for 5 mins and reconnect the battery and see how you get on.

Is there a message on the dashboard when it wont start?

You can search on here for BSI procedure's.

Yes it turns over, just won’t fire up. It almost fired up but then sounded asif the battery was dying so i tried to jump start it using cables from my car!

All connectors were put on correct.

The Battery is healthy too!

All BSI procedures i’ve come across all say you must hold the lock buttons down when key is in ignition but my keys dont have lock/unlock function

Would having the dash/clocks unplugged make it not start!

Is there a way to unlock the ECU?
bypass the immobiliser?

I’ve done a scan and P1351 pops up. Would this code suddenly stop the vehicle from starting? As it started fine 2 days ago!

This is really pickling my head ?

Why would you have the dash / clocks unplugged ??

Probably best to give the full background to this story otherwise everyone is pissing in the wind and getting splashback

This step is to synchronize the door lock remote control rolling code. You can skip it if you don’t have the feature.

Sorry Geoff, i’ve started removing the dash to replace the leaking heater mattrix. The only things that were unplugged were, dash/clocks, hazard switch, aftermarket radio.
I’ve then had to leave the van alone for 3 days.
Ive come back to move the van across on my drive to give the mrs more room so i just hooked the battery back up, not even thinking about plugging anything back in, tried to start and almost fired up but because ive cranked it so many times the battery started to die. Tried jump leads but no luck, tried charging the battery over night too!
Am i right in saying that the clocks have something to do with the bsi? With that being unplugged could it have spiked the bsi or locked the ecu?

Van ran fine before this, ive checked all fuses, connectors, wiring!
Could the p1351 glow plug relay stop it from starting!

Thanks.

Best to plug all back together even just loosly and then try a start or a BSI reset, Citroen systems are closely intertwined so I supect something unplugged will be your issue.

A P1351 fault won't stop starting.
