2019 blue hdi. Just done 600 mile round trip. About 500 miles in, engine warning light came on saying emissions fault and shortly after, the adblue light came on. With 50 miles to go, had the "vehicle cannot be started after 700 miles". By the time I got back, it was "650 miles". 

Once back I put 5 litres of adblue in, no change to warnings. I did notice some white smoke for a bit just before all this happened. Any thoughts before I book it in on Monday morning

My handbook mentions putting in 10 - 13 litres when topping up. That may be the minium to reset the warnings.

I've previously been told minimum 10l, however despite mentions of adblue, and what to do in the event of getting to a non start, I can't identify a piece about general top up minimum amounts. Maybe I've been daft and overlooked it.

The B9 tank held 17L, which was enough for approximately 12,500 miles. If you have a small air leak in the downpipe flexi, then air gets drawn in, oxidises and pumps up the NOx readings, and the system goes nuts with the Adblue, spraying it in like no tomorrow.

10L was a safe top up when the low warning came on, since there's no user indication of level in the tank, however it's just a low fluid message and the urea light gets lit up.

BUT the Engine fault light and emissions fault message means there is an actual fault...your Adblue injector, or pump etc is not responding.

This is not the same as the low Adblue warnings.
