advise please

Hello all, our b9 wav,  has failed the mot on a few issues , one being ,rear fog lights  not  having power to the bulbs,  front spots come on ok,  I cannot  find a fuse .The Haynes diagram, not very helpful,  shows the wiring coming from an interface, ?. Interfering with that is probably beyond my skills, but I wonder if I could  rewire the lights with  relay and switch etc,  from the headlight wires.? All suggestions  will be  gratefully received!

Does your car have a tow hitch? Some of those have feature to disable rear fogs if it detects trailer connected. That detecting switch is prone to short.

Thanks for the reply Drummond, yes ,  a few weeks ago I fitted a (removable) tow bar, with an electrical kit, previously used in our Ford, worked out ok ,has a separate fused supply direct from battery. We have only had this vehicle for a  year  and have not needed to use  the fog light during this time, so they may or may not have worked beforehand?  Surely  there should be a  fuse!

The OEM compatible trailer electrical kit connects to separate ”trailer box” thingy which would report to bsi the trailer presnece. In this case I feel your wiring could be different, and thus my suggestion above would not be relevant.

When you switch on the rear fogs (two turns on the indicator stalk barrel), does the dash lights for both front and rear fogs light up?

Ah.  Drummond, sorry for delayed reply ,life got busy!  But yay! Let there light !  and lo & behold there is , 2 now on the dash, and  fogs  all-round! Thank you Wink .  Obviously I should have first asked for information on  the lighting controls, I didn't know about the second click. We got it some months ago, it didn't come with a handbook,  and its only had infrequent use in the summer and so not been an issue until now. Note to self, Driver should familiarise with all controls before proceeding! Blush  However, it didn't work for the MOT man!, so it could be an earthing problem as the indicator is now playing up in the same back light unit. Sad  I'll check it out when it stops raining ?  Many thanks

The thing to check for with both indicator and previously fog lamp playing up is either a pushed back or burnt pin on the light assembly connector. [had the same thing on my B9 Berlingo] Whole light assembly is easy to get off a couple to torx head screws and the whole unit pulls off.
