M59 Speedo sensor location
#1
2006 1.9d van

Hi, Folks, just spent half a morning under my van looking for the speedo sensor...I have the replacement, but can't find where it goes.  Huh

Does any one have a clear location diagram please?

I have found a blanking plug with a 3 pin plug attached....is there a version that gets the speedo signal some place else?

Also found a sensor held by an allen bolt at the top of the bellhousing, close to the engine and another sensor at the front of the gearbox with a 2 pin plug, neither of which look at all like the new sensor delivered.

TIA

Different vehicle, but looks like the same sensor, in more or less the same location, just above the passenger side driveshaft.

Got the van up on the ramp again, there is nothing above the r/h driveshaft where indicated on the video. I am increasingly convinced that it has a different sensor type/location to the one I have purchased.

What other options are there, anyone??

Further update....

Looked at two other 1.9d engined vans today, both had the speedo sensor in the position mentioned above. My van has a clearly visible blanking plug there instead.

Can any one please point me to an alternative speedo pick up on these vehicles?

Has the van got ABS? ..... Just thinking the speedo signal may come from that.

Thanks Brodfather, but I don't have the cog to enable me to fit the sensor I have.

Ah, yes, JJ9, it is an ABS model...that would make sense.

Will investigate. Thanks.

ABS model have wheel sensors. That's why you can't find it.  Smile
