E Berlingo Oil Leak Mystery !
#1
My one year old E Berlingo MPV has been leaking oil onto the offside front chassis rail inside the "engine" compartment.
Its located slightly below the level of the motor coolant expansion bottle.

I noticed a small amount of clear/yellow oil which builds up over a couple of weeks. I clean it off using detergent and it slowly comes back.

I've owned the vehicle for four months now and it's been to a dealer's twice with no answer of what is going on.

Obviously with an electric Berlingo there's limited number of places where oil can come from.

Air conditioning - contains a small amount of oil mixed with the refrigerant. Aircon still works ok and it's more likely that gas would leak out first before the oil. Loss of gas pressure automatically switches the aircon off.

The oil leak has even run down the inner wing near the offside front wheel.

I'm at a loss as to where the oil comes from. My concern is that the oil is needed for lubrication reasons and if it runs low, something will wear out later on.

Apparently Citroen only consider warranty claims valid when a part or system fails. Oil leaks by themselves don't come high on the list.

Anyone had any experience of similar problems ? I know there aren't a lot of E-Berlingos out there but I'm hopeful.

thanks
David

PS Any suggestions as to the easiest way to upload photos from flickr or my laptop onto this post ?

I have had my E Berlingo now for 15 months from new, but have not experienced this. I get the usual drips from the air conditioning condenser, but nothing else. Like yourself, I am at a loss to guess where it may be coming from.
I am sure that you have already traced it upwards to the highest visible point. Sorry that I can’t be of more help.
