Magnetic work light for back of van
#1
Hi does anyone have any recommendations for a rechargeable magnetic light that will go in the back of my van? Ideally would like one to be flat, squareish and have the power button on the front so I can turn it on without moving it. I need one for the roof of my van, just want to be able to reach up snd turn it on/off without unfolding it or lifting it off because the power button is on the back.
Thanks
My van: Berlingo HDi L1 90hp 850 Enterprise 2015

Just google magnetic led work lamps there are literally hundreds. The ones we use for camping are not rechargeable but a pair of AA batteries lasts months.

So where does this bit go then ?

Connecting a light into the car wiring only works for so long (depending on where it is connected). An independent lamp is a better solution.
I used a battery lamp from LIDL (two for £3.99) fastened to the back of the upper brake light via a piece of plastic. Not wanting it on all the time I opened up the lamp and soldered into the battery wire a miniature tilt switch (type SW-520D) wedged in the correct place with Playdoh stolen from the kids toy box. The tilt switch contains a tiny ball bearing which completes the circuit at certain angles. Unfortunately these lamps come with a “push-on-push-off” switch so the tilt switch turns the lamp off when the tailgate is shut but the switch has to be pressed to switch it on. However wedging the switch down made it work as I wanted; ON when the tailgate is opened and OFF when it shuts.
In hindsight a black or grey one would have looked better as would a brighter light.

I have looked at many different magnetic lights and I own three different types already but only one of them is the right design for what I need and it's no longer available. I use the van for work at night a lot.
It has to be:

Bright
Rechargeable
Magnetic
Mount flat so it doesn't get knocked off easily
Have an on/off button on the front so I can just reach up and turn it off/on without having to tilt it or move it to access the button

LIDL stores currently selling a rechargeable magnetic lamp for £14.99 [Parkside PASL 4000 B2] all their stuff has a 3 year warranty [as long as you keep the receipt]

It has a button on front and as well as being magnetic, it has a fold away hook, 4000mA battery.
