Com 2000 replacement
#1
Hi All

Got the dreaded horn issues and airbag light coming on when turning the wheel, leading me to suspect the com 2000 going belly up. Rather than fannying around removing it, is there any way that I can identify the correct part number so I can get a replacement before taking the airbag/wheel off? 2004 1.9HDi

Cheers

Before you go out and get a new unit, it is much more likely to be a poor earth on the unit [not an actual unit fault itself] the M49 and M59 models are well known for it.

If you do a search about 'horn not working' you will see multiple threads and solutions

BTW there is no such beast as a 1.9HDi, the Berlingo of your era came in two flavours, 1.9D [normally aspirated] and the 2.0HDi [turbocharged]

Thanks for the advice, I will check all the earthing, although the intermittent symptoms that I'm experiencing would point more to broken cores in the "clock spring" in the com 2000 as the faults are more prevalent when turning the wheel.
Also, I must have the hard to find 3rd flavour of M59, it is , in fact, a 2L (1997) HDi (non-turbo)

I was under the impression all the HDi engines had a turbocharger? My 2002 Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDi certainly had one
