Total beginner to obd2, cables, hardware and software. Help needed
#1
I've a fault light on my dash (triangle) it seems it could be lots of different things.
The Berlingo Xtr is still running fine.
Local citroen garage is looking £95 to connect it to the diagnostics.
I was thinking of getting a fault finder obd2 and looking to try and clear it myself or find out what it is referring to.

Is there a beginners guide to a 2014 1.6 turbo diesel, hardware and software to do this?

Before you rush out and buy an OBD2 scanner, you should know that the vast majority of them do not work on anything but very basic things on on Peugeot/Citroen group vehicles. There is the recently announced REDOBD scanner that is made in Germany that seems to be a lot better than the standard generic Chinese things that are out there. If you search REDOBD on this forum you can see some info about them.

I have a B9 Multispace XTR 1.6Hdi diesel and it seems to work okay on my vehicle although some others seem to had problems, I find it works fine with my cheap Android phone [you need a smartphone either Android or Apple to connect to the REDOBD]

There is some info in this thread. I think mine was less than £30 delivered from Germany, so even if it just points you in the right direction, it will probably be worth it.

I've already used mine to diagnose an ABS fault [which generic OBD scanners do not do on Citroens] so it has already saved me the purchase price.

The 'gold standard' for diagnosing PSA group vehicles is a diagbox/lexia set-up but that is about £150 and you need to use it via a laptop and it is not an easy interface to use.

I think there's a link for REDOBD in every section of the forum. Should be easy to find.

Could be your DPF, doing lots of short runs or what mileage is there on the clock?

A basic scanner will tell you what the fault is but who't allow you to do much about it, I'm here for the same reason.

Will the diagbox Lexia 3 setup do everything including live data and reprogramming?
