1st Berlingo

picked up my first Berlingo last weekend.... Mk1 1.9 diesel multispace.
The pope-mobile (last owner was a vicar!) will eventually be a weekend camper for kayaking trips.
So far I've wired in a string of 70 white led lights to the interior lights (lovely and bright in there now when i open the door) and some blue led mood lighting on a switch on the shelf above the dashboard. Tinting the rear windows and making some curtains in the next few days...
Any comments or tips will be appreciated

Hi and welcome along Russ. Some pics of your interior mods would be really nice.

Have you looked at getting the tinting done professionally? Because its not always that expensive, but it is a pig to get right (assuming you havent done it before!)

the led strips are rubber coated, i've just used the plastic trim above the doors to hold them in place.
I was quoted £160 + vat to get the windows tinted... think that's a bit pricey to be honest. I'm off to Devon kayaking next weekend so it's going to be an evaluation weekend for what my requirements for camping will be.
My only criticism of the car so far is that the drivers seat seems to sit fairly low in the car, i've been used to sitting quite high up in the past. The foam in the seat is quite worn so the seat could do with replacing anyway.
I uploaded the pic with the tinypic link

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Hi RUSS i HAD MY WINDOWS TINTED TO 25% AND dont need curtains as you cant see in , unless you put internal lights on. Saved all the bother of curtains. BUT I can see out really well. I considered actually converting both professionally and me doing it, but decided in the end to keep it simple, a work box on wheel inside with cooker etc in, this doubles as a seat if taken out, and allows everything to come out if two of us want to sleep in back. with seats taken out.

Hi pch,
what you describe is what i've got in mind. Keeping it simple is deffinately my moto!
How much did your windows cost? I still like the idea of curtains, makes it feel a lot 'warmer' and cosier inside with curtains. Hoping to knock up something simple on either curtain wire or some studs of somesort (been down fabric-land today and seen some nice (cheap) material that goes well with the colour of the car)
Had a look at some temporary conversions on the net, and when (if) it stops raining, going to get out there with a tape measure and try to work out the best way of constructing a make-shift bed.

yes I thought of a bed at first as well, but instead opted for the self inflating mattress thingys as it can all be moved around, and in and out as needs arise.
Be good to see your thoughts.
I did consider taking one or two seats out permanently and fitting a bed [single] with storage under and a hinge up top bed, but decided in the end not worth it as my van has to be multifunctional.
