Hi all
Just wondered if anyone had any experience with these. I had a flat tyre yesterday, Friday, all going well spare tyre underneath. The problem was I couldn’t get the last tyre anti theft bolt out with the special socket I can’t get enough torque and it just keeps slipping off. I called a mobile tyre service they couldn’t get it off either.
I thought if I inflate the tyre with a compressor I would be able to get it in to a local tyre place so called a few but they said they didn’t have the tools to get it off. I was given the number of someone who specialises in removing them but voicemail says he’s not available until Monday.
So is there anyway at all for removing the bolt?

most are anti chisel these days... that means if you wack the outer edge with a cold chisel it will slide back and just spin....
depends how tight the bolt was done up....
we have put a nut on the end and welded it to the top iof the bolt, drilled a hole in the end (need a good drill as the bolts are hardened) then combined with the heat was able to get the bolt out
Used a Mig on a very high power to get penetration into the bolt
have tried those big reverse screw sockets over the bolt, did no good....

Update
I called a specialist guy who removes anti theft bolts he’s coming Monday so hopefully I’ll get the spare wheel on and take the tyre in to be replaced. I’ll get all the bolts changed for standard ones as for me the trouble it takes to change a tyre is more hassle than the risk of having a wheel stolen.
I’m fortunate that I’m in a car park and not on the road but a half hour job to change a tyre compared to a 3 day + problem to get the bolt off is ridiculous.
Also crazy that tyre companies don’t have the equipment to deal with this.

Is your special socket the actual part that is worn? I had this on my of my previous Citroens and it just slipped off all of the locking wheel bolts. What I'm trying to say is make sure you check that you can get the locking wheel bolts off the other wheels before your specialist man turns up, as you might need him to remove more than one! The Citroen locking wheel bolts have a weird 'pin type' system and they seem to wear [or push back] in the socket, especially if tyre fitters have used 'air guns' on them in the past meaning you cannot get a good grip on them.
With regard to replacing the the locking wheel bolts with normal bolts, yes you can do that of course, as let's face it Berlingo Alloy wheels are probably not high on a thieves 'wish list' but you can also buy replacement locking bolt sets with a key pretty cheaply on Ebay or such like and as long as the bolts are properly lubricated with the appropriate anti-seize compound [such as copper slip] along the shank of the bolt as well as the thread you should not have any problem getting them out in future.
A tyre garage used a standard socket on the security bolts of my step daughters Fabia and ruined them.We found a local performance wheel and tyre specialist who got them out easily.
As multispacer says they're not the sort of wheels the scumbags are after,so replace the bolts with nice durable standard type ones
It is on my to do list.

I don’t think the special socket is worn it’s only previously been used to change 4 tyres. I went around all the other anti theft bolts and it slipped on two others.
I think your right when the tyres were changed previously they have been pushed back with an air gun anyway I’m going to change all of them so won’t have the problem again.

I had a C3 Picasso and 3 out of 4 locking bolts came out ok bolts came out.... how many times do tyre changers tighten bolts (inc locking) with an air socket gun!! "they ain't gonna work loose"!!
I think the locking bolts have to be tightened less than std as well....
We had to use a 6 foot pole to get my mates transit wheel nuts undone on all the wheels!!

One of the Merc Sprinters at work had the wheelbolts tightened up so tight by ATS that the poor guy who came to replace the wheelbearing had to do the 6ft pole thing and ended up snapping two off.The
Chimps.
It is on my to do list.

Worth noting that our 2021 Vauxhall Combo life K9 Berlingo clone has alloy wheels and standard bolts - no security bolt
