Apart from the correct points under the sills, are there safe jacking areas at the front of the car ?
The wishbones are off-limits according to the stickers on them.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

Yes, but unsure at which point thereafter I can safely support with.
It's a Cambelt job so I'm hoping to get away with just the front offside only which will mitigate some of the loading.
Fear of the unknown is the biggest hurdle....

There is subframe behind the sump. It is of hefty steel, and good for jacking. Don’t use the jack bare head directly, but preferably put a length of 2x4” rigid wood or a jackpad to soften the touch. You can reach the subframe either from sides or front, but you may need to drive the car up on some small ramps to be able to fit the jack under the car.
Couple of precautions:
1. If using trolley jack, remeber that either the car or the jack needs to be able to roll freely during the lifting, as the lift head moves horizontally somewhat.
2. Please use jackstands before going under the car.

Worth remembering that there is an alloy beam on either side between the subframe (also called the engine bed) and the front of the car. Dont try to jack up under that it will distort. They are both bent on my sons car where a PO has jacked it up

I dropped the coolant cap into the abyss and had to drop the under tray to find it,so I had a good look while I was down there
It's a big wide flat chunk of steel so no problems.
Thanks all.
I've never bothered to take the time look before as my "garage"is the gutter outside on the road....

There's a couple of spots I use,
The fairly-obvious chassis rails and structure inboard of the sills at the front.
The centre of the front crossmember, though getting to that easily needs a fairly large jack.
