Fortunately my car is performing well, but have been approached by a neighbour whose B9 has failed the NCT (equivalent to UK's MOT) with rear 'side slip alignment' out of limits 20/m/km to the allowable -18m/km to +18m/km. They have had the car serviced who report that nothing looks to be worn and recommend replacing the rear axel.
The car is 2012 vintage and has covered 122,000 km. Its also been modified for wheelchair access.
As you guys are aware replacing the rear axel is a major job in terms of parts cost and labour. Is there anything they can have checked before undertaking such work, (or scrapping)?
