Sliding door floppy handle syndrome
#1
Sorry, I know this has been covered before but thought I would post my own version of today's fix with some pics hopefully.

Car is a 2004 model Multispace, I think 2005 on the interior door release was moved down from the button on the grab handle at the top of the door, don't think it matters that much.

Images will be via Postimages but they seem to have occasional server problems today, I very much hope they are not going the same way as Photobucket a few years ago. If the problem continues I'll upload direct from my hard drive but I'm always mindful of taking up server space on forums.

I bought a pair of pins from Amazon and a Robust handle from eBay just in case I couldn't repair the existing handle, it was cheap and a belt and braces option as the car is booked for MOT.

Trim panel removed, breaking all but 3 of the panel clips, all rods in position.

Removed the 2 Torx screws and detached the 2 rods from the clips.

Winkled the handle and rods out, compared the old and new handles. The Robust handle has a longer rubbery bit at the front but fits and works well.

Emboldened by this I decided to try to fix the old handle. Worst part was driving out the lower broken part, I did this eventually by winding it out in my vice with appropriate packing, no pics as needed both hands to hold it all in place. Pin fitted easily and it went back in a couple of minutes. Works perfectly.

Panel and armrest went back in. Ordered some panel clips to do a proper job of it.
The spare pin and clips will be on standby for the other door which will probably mean it'll never break.  Big Grin

Trim clips from eBay item no 364690675338. Fitted, indistinguishable from Citroen items.
