Glove box lid

Anyone else have a glove box lid that won't stay open for more than a few seconds?  Mine keeps shutting on me - usually when I've got my hand in the way, or am about to put somethng inside.  I'm guessing having the hinges at the top is a 'safety feature', so that in a crash the passenger's head doesn't bang into the edge of an open lid, but they should have designed stiffer hinges when opening at the top -  or is it just mine that keeps banging down on my hands?  It's somewhat annoying.
