MyCitroen App
#1
Hi all,
I think I'm probably being a bit thick here, but how do I get the app to work on more than one phone ?

Currently, It's all hunky-dory on my phone, but when I download the app to my wifes phone, and register with her email address/phone niumber etc., it says OK, but she cannot recieve a phone call through the head unit/hands free system, it just rings on her phone.

Do I need to access something else ?

Thanks,
Paul

You need to pair the phone with the headunit - nothing at all to do with the MYCitroen App

I find the app pretty useless. It works for a few days, then fails to register anything for a few hundred miles. It will then suddenly wake up and record again, but only for a few days. Very frustrating, so I have pretty much given up on it.

Same for me too, I have a Pixel 6a. Is it the phone or the app?

It will be the APP, as modern phones tend to be backwardly compatible with older devices/software but an APP written [and not subsequently upgraded/supported] at the time of, for example Android 6 and earlier versions of Bluetooth is not going to work well with the current Android 14 and latest Bluetooth versions.

The problem with all APP based software, not only PSA group vehicles, is that all the car makers love highlighting their shiny 'new tech' when selling vehicles but there is absolutely no requirement for them on how long they should support such tech going forwards. Personally, I think there should be a minimum requirement for at least 10 years from date of first registration, as most of these systems are integral to the vehicle and are not easy to replace/upgrade. Let's face it, if you were told a vehicle manufacturer was only going to provide spares for a vehicle for three years, no one would buy that vehicle no matter how good it was but we are all quite happy to let manufacturers 'off the hook' when it comes to supporting in built tech. As I stated it is not just PSA group vehicles, I have colleagues who have expensive Japanese and German vehicles that have tech that no longer works as intended and is no longer supported.

Unfortunately this seems to be the same across the board in our throw away society, just look at SMART TVs that in the main stop being SMART after only a few years as manufacturers again don't support older models...

If I start the app, it works every time.

If I don't start the app manually it works for a bit and then stops working, I'm assuming the phone memory management system shuts the app down when it's not being used.

If you change the memory settings for the app to never close it'll probably work all the time.

I never had any problems or issues with the MyCitroen App, it is not intuitive,  but 'was' OK. I recently changed my phone (from android 9 to 11) , a new install of the App, now it does not work correctly.  Tells me the touchscreen needs updating,  but the car says it is the latest version,  won't let me enter service details. I'm assuming that some data is on the old phone and the new install does not account for that. In summary,  bit rubbish software,  not 'real ' effort or testing has gone in to the software/App development. Just a gimmick that now does not work...
