brake master cylinder

ok, seems my master cykinder is shot... fluid pouring out under pressure (don't think a rebuild kist is worth is seeing as how this one is 20+ years old thought I would treat the car.......

With all these onine shope types, you select the vehicle, and perhaps there isn't an option for a twin side door 2000 2.0hdi... but of course the cyclinder is probably the same across many vehicles.....

any one have a part number I could search for?
would like a reasonable make if cheap enough....

also any problems to watch out for swapping it over?

ok got a new Master cylinder....
the pipes seem like they do not want to budge? other that soaking in plus gas type stuff any other suggestions?
Used my mates expensive pipe spanners but only one moved, I am worried about them rounding off...
can I take the fluid resevoir off to get better access? How?

If I remember right the reservoir is held on with two pins which can be slid out by removing one end clip .
A mirror held underneath will show you what I mean. The new one will not have a reservoir attached, look at that and see how its fitted.

If you have a good quality pipe spanner then its very hard to round the nuts off if using correctly.
Remember its had 20 years of work so the pipes will be tight.

ahhh mine looks like one pin with some sort of crushed alloy end bit like you would have a on a push bike break cable to stop it fraying.....
have sprayed and srayed release oil so will try again... birrowed my mechanic mates £150 set of pipe spanners ( he has never worked on a Berlingo so is of little use)and they are good quality but at least one of the pipe nuts seems very loose with an 11mm.... a 10mm will not fit

I hope the the resevoir off I can get the spanner into a better position and hold it more square

Hi BigVtwin99, might have to replace my master cylinder as I’m loosing fluid somewhere and think it might be going into the servo. It’s a 2001 2.0hdi so should be same as yours. Any tips you can share ?

soak the pipe fitting in the master cylinder with release fluid ... soak angain and again....

Try some ( plenty of ) heat and then try tightening the nut first before undoing.

Plenty heat and then flood the thread with WD40 so it gets sucked into the thread gaps as it suddenly cools, then try tighen followed by undoing.
