[Warning Light] Airbag light won't go out
#1
Hi, I have a 2002 1.6 16v Berlingo and the airbag came on about 1 week ago, I know it's not under drivers seat as I changed that last year for the MOT and just wondering if there is one under the passenger seat.
Any would be grateful as my MOT is due 23/4/24.
Thanks

There's quite a number of things that can cause the airbag light to come on on the M59 model. Dodgy connectors under the seat think [from memory there are two under each front seat one for seat-belt and one for airbag, so check and clean the connectors [note clean the connectors with electrical contact cleaner do not use WD40 or suchlike on electrical contacts as it can cause even more problems]

There is also the cable in the steering column which can cause problems see: https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-201...ht=Air+bag

Finally if neither of those you may have a broken wire in the data lines as I did on my M59 model see: https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-11787.html

If the fault is under the passenger seat, would it flag the std airbag warning or would it flag. The warning light for disabling the passenger airbag?

When I had the fault on my M59 Multispace, I had both "Passenger Airbag Deactivcated" and "Air Bag Fault" appear in the Multi-Function Display in the centre console and had the amber airbag warning light on in the dash instruments,

Mine turned out to be a broken data line wire see: https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-11787.html

Before you start though, it is adviseable to get an accurate code reading carried out to see what fault codes you have as that can point you in the right direction, as the airbag warning can be triggered by a number of things.
