I wasted 5 hours to travel 52 miles!
I got a red triangle outline with an exclamation mark in the middle and a red car with the same exclamation mark. I also had a warning," Electric traction system fault. Stop vehicle, see on-board documenting". It was 5 pm, no garage available. Where do I find onboard docs?
I decided to phone green flag. Knowing I would be waiting a while I decided to top up with Electric. It would not connect so I was not able to do so. Green flag said they will have to take me home! While waiting for them and speaking to another person, I went to show them the warnings. They had gone! I was also able to increase my charge and get on my way! Warning have not returned!
Disconcerting as the next time I might be tempted to ignore warning signs. Does this sort of thing happen often?

I have never had any such problems, nor have I seen any forum posts from anyone else with similar. That said, I don’t think there are many E Berlingo members on the forum yet.
It is probably a software glitch, but yes, it is disconcerting!

Thanks for your reply tdonbay. If the problem didn't accur in the month you were waiting for it to be dealt with, it again makes me wonder if it righted itself? The software update might have had nothing to do with it! Either way let's hope it does not happen again to either of us. The fact that the message said "stop car" made me think it was serious. If I get another warning, I will not know if I am to take notice of it?
What also I found surprising was the fact that the recovery service was only going to get me home, not attempt to deal with it!
Apart from this concern I love the car.

Yes - in a way they can.
As I understand it - sometimes codes (known as DTC's) are triggered but are transient. This is occurs when the computerised control unit(s) detect a reading (frequently an electrical resistance produced by a sensor) out of specification that is not repeated on restart.
In some vehicles if a transient code is triggered at least 3 times it is stored as 'permanent' and is considered as needing investigation. This would say; result in a warning lamp.
Some codes are triggered but not stored if when the ignition is switched off and when next restarted if no code is triggered the computer considers it transient and no code is stored as 'permanent'. It may be recorded as transient in its memory.
Therefore your red warning light seems to have been a transient code as it disappeared on restart
This was something probably dealt with by the software update as whatever conditions triggered it originally might be trivial not important or a phantom triggering.
It's a complicated system, not really understood by many, not fool proof, yet reasonably useful. Just follow manufacturers guides - most of which are only online and not helpful when in a mobile dead spot when it happens. I was lucky when I bought my K9 in 2021 as the dealer gave my the last printed guide for it that they had got!

Thank you for the explanation. Does the guide have many pages? Is there any chance of you copying it and sending it to me?
I can not find information on why my doors lock while I am driving? What happens if I have an accident would I not then be trapped in my car? I am spending a terrific amount of time trying to find out these sort of things. During my search I found a thread from 2015, explaining that you can be locked out, if you open the door, leave your keys inside and close the door. Can this still happen? I could easily see myself doing this if I forgot something and returned into the house! My dogs could easily be then locked in, without the windows open.
I am becoming worried about all these type of things that I am not even aware of.

I have tried to edit the above but been unable to do so. I wanted to add that I will put this question about the locking doors in a new thread.
