Permanent 12V in cigarette lighter

Hi all,

Attached is my solution for permanent 12V in cigarette lighter in front dashboard.

The permanent 12V is taken from the pink wire at the radio connector and fed to the white wire at the cigarette lighter by a piece of new wire, not too thin

1. Remove the radio
2. Remove the tray under the radio
3. Remove the oblong plastic piece behind the gear selector and remove the 2 screws behind it
4. Pull up the plastic part covering the gear selector (no screws) and remove 3 screws holding the big plastic part going all the way to the floor
5. Remove the two small plastic parts at floor level (one screw each) to each side of the big plastic part
6. Remove the last two screws behind the covers holding the big plastic part
7. Remove the big plastic part completely
8. Pull out the panel holding the cigarette lighter
9. For safety, you can remove fuse F8 at the interior fuse panel, before doing the next tasks

1. Pull out the connector behind the cigarette lighter
2. Cut the white wire leaving 5 cm or so the connector
3. Pull out the connector from the radio
4. Locate the pink wire next to the yellow/green ground wire

Now, the job is to connect the pink wire with the white wire by a new piece of wire. I did it by soldering them together, but you can also do it by some kind of screw terminal. Just be sure that the connections are well done and covered up by insulation afterwards. Also remember to insulate the white wire that is not used anymore

Now, replace F8 again after making sure all looks good, put in connectors in radio and cigarette lighter and check all is working as intended. If all is ok, assemble all plastic parts again
