Hey folks, I hope you're well. I am having a problem with my Berlingo
The Abs warning light keeps coming on Intermittently. When this happens the Speedo stops working and occasionally the general warning light will appear and the car loses pulling power.
I have had it diagnosed and I have been told there is no communication with the ABS unit.
I have read that this is basically a problem with the ABS on board programming and it needs fixing with a rebuild / re program. Can anyone recommend someone for this? I emailed ECU testing however the lady who was replying was not sure if they could fix my model.

Before you go off into changing the ABS board because of 'no communication' What were the actual fault codes that you got via the diagnostic check?
I ask, as I wouldn't have thought that an ABS unit failure would also cause either of the other faults you list [no speedo and power loss]
The Berlingo B9 model like some other vehicles in the PSA group do suffer weird faults due to ingress of water into the engine bay fuse box [which also houses a circuit board that communicates with the BSI] and if you get water damage can cause all sorts of problems. My B9 Berlingo recently had 'ABS/STOP' warnings plus in addition when parking up after a drive and turning off the ignition, and walking away from the car, I would randomly get both the headlights and wipers turning themselves on.
This all turned out to be water damage in the above mentioned fuse box [the circuit board was shorting out]
A quick way to check if your engine bay fuse box has been water damaged, is to disconnect the battery [after observing the correct BSI Shutdown procedure] and then remove each fuse one at a time and check for any corrosion on the legs of the fuses. A number of mine were clearly corroded. Also the plugs in the fuse box should be removed and checked for any corrosion on the pins.
The engine bay fuse box is adjacent to the battery in the engine bay.

As Multispacer says, it's not the first thing to look at.
"no communication" could be as simple as "it's not on the CANBUS becuase it's not getting 12 volts".
I had an ABS fault, abeit not quite the same as yours, the root cause was the oddball double relay attached to the front of the fusebox. Replacing it with a decent used one fixed the fault.
https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-26291.html
I'd be carefully checking the supplies to the ABS unit, and putting a scope on the CAN pins at the ABS unit, as a wiring fault is far more likely than an internal failure. Broken wires, iffy connector, green crud, etc.
Also, if it really comes to it, a used ABS unit can be had for well under £100 - eg, with little effort spent looking, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196341597369
Edit,
Another thing to think about is the battery condition, voltage, battery cables, etc. The only time I've seen the instruments drop to zero like that was with a poor battery -ve connection.

Thanks for your input guys. It may actually be the fuse box as the window wiper pump did stop working around the same time and It was a blown fuse in that fuse box. I am terrible at these kind of diagnostics but I will take a look at those fuses.
How do I do the correct BSI Shut down?
Is it true that the Fusebox is married to the BSI and ESU meaning I couldnt just fit a new one from the wreckers yard?
Cheers

I have seen a replacement ABS unit on ebay for £60 but I was not sure if these also needed reprogramming.

No, luckily the fuse box with all the enclosed electronics is plug and play no programming required. The only thing being you must make sure you get exactly the same part number as the one fitted to your vehicle as these boxes are used in many different PSA group vehicles and there are even a number of different part number used across different Berlingo models/years
The part number is easy to read on the box. They do vary in price though [depending on the part number] Luckily the part number used in my B9 Berlingo was pretty cheap I picked up one from Ebay for less than £40 delivered and fitted it and it cured all my weird problems. Some of the part numbers though are between £60-£150.

Finally if this does prove to be the cause in your case, you might want to check what has caused the liquid ingress. The most common problem [and a bit of a design fault] is when the rain scuttle drains underneath the wiper area in the corners of the engine bay get clogged up with leaves and other debris, rain water cannot escape through the drains and overflows and pours onto the engine bay fuse box. In my case my problem was a rodent had taken up residence in the fuse box and used it as a toilet hence shorting out all the electrics in the fuse box

Yes it seems to be a suffix number. BSM-R05 which I have found one that says the same. However, next to this there is what looks like a date also:
Here was what the mechanic said about the diagnostics... that there wasnt even a number show up as there was no communication. It is possible that I have been had.
Cheers guys

The Abs warning light keeps coming on Intermittently. When this happens the Speedo stops working and occasionally the general warning light will appear and the car loses pulling power.
I have had it diagnosed and I have been told there is no communication with the ABS unit.
I have read that this is basically a problem with the ABS on board programming and it needs fixing with a rebuild / re program. Can anyone recommend someone for this? I emailed ECU testing however the lady who was replying was not sure if they could fix my model.
ABS MODEL NUMBER: 9674196880 87DMD11392392
Thanks!

Cheers

Thanks for that. I have found a few with the same part number. Does the BSM number also have to Match?
Is the 'BSM number' are you referring to the suffix part of the number after the main part number? That I'm not 100% sure of, I found one with the same whole number [including the suffix] as mine.
Yes it seems to be a suffix number. BSM-R05 which I have found one that says the same. However, next to this there is what looks like a date also:
Here was what the mechanic said about the diagnostics... that there wasn't even a number show up as there was no communication. It is possible that I have been had.
Cheers guys
Don't worry about the date, I think that's just the manufacture date, my replacement unit had a different date and worked fine.
When using the correct diagnostic equipment for PSA group vehicles, even if there is no comms you usually get a code for what unit is not responding.
