Hello, my Berlingo starts fine apart from after a long-ish trip when the engines hot and has been running for a while.
There is no crank, just a click coming from the engine.
Jump pack doesn't seem to work but push starting it does.
I haven't done much yet to source the problem apart from charging the battery to full.
Have seen a few similar threads so sorry if this is a common question, have seen it could be a number of things so just wondering if knowing it only starts with a push start and not a jump pack narrows it down/eliminates certain culprits?
Wanna have a crack at sourcing/fixing the problem before sending it off to a garage so any thoughts towards it would be appreciated.

Starter motor or starter solenoid which sits on top of the starter motor. Possibly affected by the heat from the engine when warm?
Could also be electrical connections to the motor or to earth. Check the heavy duty cable that goes from battery to the solenoid on top of the motor for good connections.
As you are getting a click when trying to start it does point to motor or solenoid , you could try tapping the motor when someone holds the key in start position. If you can get near the motor to do it that is , as some motors are hidden deep into the engine bay.

Sounds like starter solnoid, mine did it a few months ago exact same symptoms and I put up with it for a week or two flicking the key several times till it caught but eventually wouldn't play ball and I ripped a muscle in my leg trying to push it down the street to bump start it. New starter £30 off fleabay seller called carpartsinmotion has sorted it. As said one bolt is a bit awkward to get at but doable if you pull the battery and airbox to maximise access. One thing I had to do was replace the ring connector on the switch wire to a spade type as new motor has spade connection.

Cheers everyone, starter motor seems to be the fault as predicted. Getting a new one on Thursday so hopefully that will resolve the issue. If not I'll keep in mind the on/off trick!
