Rear van door lock

I have barn door's on the rear of my Berlino  HDi cargo van. It's not possible to open from the inside. I've seen videos of how to rig up a device on the VW caddy so you can open it from inside but that part doesn't seem to exist on the Berlin go.  Has anyone found a way around this ?

To my shame and embarrassment I discovered this myself whilst plylining my van back in 2012.
The door wasn't fully open to the stop and blew shut ,locking me in.
Had to wait an hour and three quarters for my son to get back from college.
To rub salt in the wound I then discovered that the sliding side door had an internal handle anyway.
Which model do you have(probably better to post in that specific group)
Looking at my barn door B9 there doesnt look to be much of a facility to do this
Possibly why the boot-jumped B9s in photos allseem to be hatchbacks
