Rear Tailgate wont unlock/open

Hi All,

Had trouble shutting Berlingo rear tailgate recently and had to give it a little slam.
Now unable to unlock it on either remote nor key (wont turn).

Had a look on inside of boot and cant see any lock mechanism as covered by a panel.
Assuming im going to need access, how does this panel come off?

Once gained access, any guidance how I can release it from inside?

I've just been working on this myself, although your problem sounds different.

To release the tailgate from the inside there's a flat lever just above the boot latch that you push right-to-left. It releases the latch. I think you can do this with the panel on, but I might be wrong. If this doesn't work see below.



To release the back panel, you need to first pop open the grab handle and unscrew the two torx bolts inside. Then the panel just pulls off with some force (and maybe broken trim clips ).

The mechanism is behind a piece of glued on polythene, which you need to cut through with a knife. It's see-through so you can tell which one it is.

If the boot release method above doesn't work, you can try to trigger an unlock by pressing down on the white 'finger' ('B' in the photo below).
