Ad Blue - How much do I need?
#1
Hello,

I have a Citroen Berlingo blue HDi Van 1.5 diesel and it says it is '1700 mls before no start.'

Does anyone know how many litres of Ad Blue I would need to top it up? I don't really want to have it spilling out of the top since I don't know what damage, if any, over filling would do. Not sure the paint work on my van would appreciate it either.

Thanks in advance
Mike.

I just fill up from the pump at the garage - usually works out cheaper

There have been instances where the tanks function is compromised by the adblue crystalising because it's not used up fast enough.
At work we only fill our Sprinters half full so it will slosh around, after several 18 litre tanks had to be replaced.
It's seems to have stopped the problem

It's unlikely to cause damage to paint if it's not left on the too long
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

You should wait until warning light comes on then top up with at least 10litres. That was how my Cit garage told me to do it. Current model 22 reg uses around 10litres every 5k miles which is double what my previous 17 reg used. I was also told that tank is 17litres & light comes on with 3litres left.
