Hi All,
Got a 2011 Berlingo van, 1.6HDI 90hp (no DPF or DMF), with a BE4 gearbox.
I somehow stuffed up a clutch change last year and about 2k miles in a grinding/scraping/rattling sound started developing when the clutch is up, most prevalent when in neutral but also in gear when there is little road noise i.e. coasting at 10-20 mph in 1st or second. When the clutch is fully pressed the grinding stops. I don't think its the clutch release bearing as the pedal has to be almost to the floor (totally disengaged) for the noise to stop and you can almost hear the "momentum" to whatever is grinding slowing down. I've checked the box has more oil that it needs according to the level plug on the side.
I assume its the input shaft bearing has eaten itself... has anyone changed this before i.e. does it require a total gearbox disassembly or can I pull the old one out (need a press?) from the bell housing side without having to actually get inside the gearbox?
