is there a connection between the seat belt and the wiper motor
any help will be greatly appreciated
A few things to try..
Have you carried out a BSI reset? Often weird problems on the Berlingo and other PSA group vehicles can be cured by a BSI reset. There is a 'sticky' thread on how to do a BSI reset. [The BSI is the Body-Systems-Interface] think of it as a computer that all the controls runs through and get their 'commands' from. There is also a sticky on how the BSI works etc if you want to read it.
If you've already done that [or it hasn't cured after doing that] then it might be a dodgy connector [or oxidisation of contacts] on the wiper switch or COMM2000 unit [the COMM 2000 unit is a unit that has the switches for the wipers/headlights etc] You can try spraying the switched with
Electrical contact cleaner and if you do make sure it is electrical contact cleaner and
NOT WD40 or suchlike as that can leave a residue on switches that causes more problems.
Finally if none of that works then take a look at the engine bay fuse box [it should be located close to the battery] It is not only a fuse box but also contains some electronics that communicates with the aforementioned BSI. These are prone to water damage [normally when scuttle drains get blocked and water overflows into the engine bay] and water damage in this unit can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems. Take off the cover and check for signs of water ingress. How to easily check this for water damage is to disconnect the battery wait the required time for all systems to go into 'sleep mode' then pull each fuse one at a time and check if there is any corrosion visible on the legs. If there is any corrosion clean up legs and spray with electrical contact cleaner and replace. Go through each fuse one at a time until you've checked them all. There will also be a few electrical connectors in this box, again take them off one at a time and check for any signs of corrosion on the pins.
Sometimes if the liquid damage is bad then the only solution is to replace the whole fuse box complete with the attached electronic board. In my case a rodent had got inside the fuse box and used it as a toilet which had completely wrecked the board, causing in my case the headlamps and wipers to randomly switch on when the vehicle was parked up
and engine off! If it is the whole unit that needs replacing, make sure you get the exact same part number as there are many of these units that are used in many different Citroen and Peugeot vehicles and they are not all interchangeable. Luckily these units are 'plug and play' in that no coding to vehicle is required and I picked up a used one for my Berlingo for less than £40 delivered.
