On the last few days, I've noticed the aircon has a slight hissing/scratchy sound, although this morning was the first time I thought of turning it off to see if it was that or the fans. When it is off, the hissing stops. The aircon itself, hasn't seemed to be so effective over a few days, and I'm pretty certain on my last run yesterday afternoon, or didn't work at all. Would this be as simple as it just needs regassing? Or, is there something more sinister at play?

Update: Nitrogen leak test set for Tuesday, hoping after that, it's just a regas.

The hissing \ whooshing sound is a classic sign of low pressure.
Could be a regas, next common issue is a condenser that's rotted out.

Thanks Shtu, I opted for a test first, as I don't particularly fancy wasting money on a regas to find there's a bigger problem hours or days later. It's a lot of money when you're out of work.

Thanks, I'm not a mechanically minded guy. The garage will do it for me. They've given a quote including parts and VAT. The parts come to the same price as that. If I'm not fitting it myself, I may as well just get them to order the part for me.
