Hello all,
We went out for dinner the other night and on getting back to the car I tried to start it three of four times with no luck.
It is a 1.9d and it just turned with no hint of firing up.
Luckily it then just started and off home we trotted.
The following day though no such luck. Just turning over with no hint of starting.
My thoughts were no fuel. So i pulled the pipe coming from the tank before it gets to the fuel filter and turned the car over again. No fuel pissed out of the pipe so this narrowed it down to either the in tank pump failing or the fuel relay failing so no power was getting to the in tank pump.
With the aid of my lovely wife we tried to work out if we could hear a click at the relay but the car makes so many clicks buzzes and whirs on turning the ignition we had no idea.
So, starting at the most obvious we ordered up a fuel relay and gave that a go.
Luckily that was the issue. Five minutes work. The battery needs removing and the battery tray holding out of the way as the relay sits on the bulkhead out of sight behind this. A simple unplug and replace job with it held in place with a 10mm nut.
I was particularly pleased it was this as i did not fancy removing the fuel tank to get to the in tank pump as this model has no access hatch in the rear floor.
