Multispace air intake hose loose.
#1
Hello everyone.
Thanks for the advice.

I've got a berlingo multispace  1.6 diesel.
It returned a record 75.2mpg today.

But sometimes it's goes to 55mpg. This on same road, small driver, same everything.

So I inspected and found a loose air hose as seen on the video. And also pictures. I also found some cracked plastic above the engine on a part I don't understand.

https://youtu.be/7U9rsb9vJJU?si=A6ny_x1xuw2i8tQx

My question is, is the lower air intake pipe supposed to just sit in like that or am I missing a clip or something.

Also should I be concerned about that cracked and separated black plastic thing?

A minor question on the 3rd pic, the tube with the yellow bit, is that the air intake for the common fuel rail?

Thanks guys.

Mines a 2012 b9 but has a similar engine.
The hose has bayonet pegs at the back end
Turn it 90degrees before insertion than turn it back once fully pushed  in.
It's not meant to be airtight seal

55mpg is an excellent return for my terrain and anything in the 70s would be the trip computer having a "trip"

The black plastic thing is loose on mine too and has been so from new.

Yellow looks like a camshaft cover breather

But not right at the top

75 would be a surprising value - best to check with distance and fuel fill-up rather than the computer.

They all do that sir. You can try Eva's suggestion about turning it as it's installed, but i's not a precision fit, to put it mildly.

You're missing the engine cover that clips onto those two metal pegs.
The plastic is part of the airbox mountings. They're a loose-ish part that clips onto the rest of the airbox.

Nothing missing there, just not a great part.

It's an engine breather.
