Every time I get too happy...
#1
... Something bad always happens!

Aircon - fixed.
Adblue light - finally come on for 1500 miles remaining, after 18000 miles of my use (don't know how much before I got it, it was last filled).

5 minutes later - I think a wheel bearing has died! Actually had to dump the van at a friend's house and get a lift home. I'll bike there tomorrow to get the van to a garage. I didn't want to drive it too far.

Why do these things always happen to me?

They´re coming to take me away,
Haha, they´re coming to take me away,
Ho ho, hee hee, ha ha,
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I´ll be happy to see
Those nice young men
In their clean white coats
And they´re coming to take me AWAY,
HA HAAAA.

Well, this got out of hand quickly!

I'll cheer you up. So far, my (admittedly cheap) Berlingo has needed,

Service
Cambelt
Water pump
Clutch
Driveshaft seals
Input shaft seal
Crank seal
Gear cables
Front springs
Top mounts
Lower balljoints
2 injectors
Alternator
Rear light

There's probably more but I've lost count. It's a good thing the parts are cheap, because my word they need lots of them.

Oh, and it's looking like the DPF needs a wash out.

Edit - oh yes, the ABS relay as well.

And a steering wheel.

And a door strap.

And a repair to the glowplug loom.

And a repair to the airbox.

And de-rusting and repainting the underside of the bonnet.

I think we've all been there...otherwise we wouldn't have found this forum  Wink

I had one of the last years of M59 Multispace that they made, acquired at three years old and that really was great, apart from regular servicing the only other item that caused me a problem in my eight years of ownership was a broken wire for the ABS system which I found after a lot of wiring checks. I reckon I would still have it now had someone not driven into the back of me on the motorway while I was in stationary traffic...

The B9 Berlingo Multispace that replaced it, was slightly older when I acquired it [eight years old but only had done approx 50000 miles] That proved to be a bit more troublesome over the eight years of ownership...

Items replaced, in no particular order over the period apart from normal service items and the cambelt/water pump replacement.

Both front shocks [had the horrible Citroen knock...and in my case wasn't any of the simple solutions but lateral movement in passenger side damper rod]

Top mounts [twice!]

Front springs [one snapped]

Rear springs [both snapped]

Gearbox driveshaft oil seal [passenger side]

Droplinks...it ate through these and I tried a number of different makes over the years [probably about five sets]

Starter motor [dreaded clicking syndrome]

New discs and pads all round

New screen washer pump [twice!]

ABS sensors [both front wheels]

New centre MFD [original one the temperature display disappeared]

Injector seals [leaking]

Rear lamp cluster connector burn up

Lower Ball joints

Front wheel bearing

And the last one was the numerous STOP/ABS warnings and random headlamps and wipers on [when engine not running!] which turned out to be a dead engine bay fuse box/circuit board.

Despite all those, I still found the Berlingo a great, practical vehicle that returned 50+ MPG over my ownership and at least the vast majority of stuff is fairly easy to source and replace. The M59 being a lighter vehicle used to return even better MPG.

I've just got this horrible rumble/vibration. Vehicle left all the way on the other side of town maybe around half hour bike away. I now just hope the garage can diagnose and resolve quickly, as I can't be too long without a vehicle.

At least the wheel bearings are not buried away behind the engine like everything else seems to be.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top
