Vacuum pipes
#1
Hello all.

Having spent a bit of time under the bonnet recently i noticed two vacuum pipes located under the egr valve were disconnected.
One directly under and the other to the right of it, this one actually had a screw in it where some one had blocked its hole!
They have both been disconnected for years by the looks of them.

Can any one advise what they actually do?  Cheers.

In the picture the yellow ‘rescue tape’ is repairing the split in the left vacuum pipe which i re attached. The right pipe is still loose and free as the point is goes on to has snapped so it can not be attached. But if having these makes a difference i will sort out a part and fix it.

Probably for the EGR ... generally thought to be a good thing.

No one i have mentioned an egr to thinks it is a good thing!

But, if they are vacuum hoses to the egr is it worth just disconnecting the other one and blocking both or will the car suffer?

Cheers. I’ll have a read……..just read it, seems pulling the hoses will have no adverse or detrimental effect. It will certainly prevent the build up of black muck.
