AC not blowing cold air
#1
Hello everyone and nice to meet you all! Wink
For the past few months I've been having issues with the AC of my dear Berly. Sad
It is a 2012 model, I've brought her to the mechanic three times already and he cannot seem to figure out what's going on, everytime he says it's fixed and yet as soon as I take it back it's still broken.
The current situation is this: checked the sensors and they are fine, compressor is okay, ac starts everytime when i turn it on but it blows out only hot air Huh , changed the filter and coolant.
Sometimes, during the morning, the AC works fine and then stops working suddenly (as in it starts blowing hot air).
I tried turning the car off and then on again when it's only blowing hot air but it doesn't "reset" the issue...
I am no mechanic but it feels like if I let the car rest a few hours it appears to fix itself for a few minutes (or seconds) and then it's back to hell with maximum hot air getting blowed at me.
Temperature's rising and I really would like to avoid melting in my car if possible.
Any suggestiong, please and thank you? Heart

Have a nice day!

If you have the climate control setup,

https://lagabasen.com/visa-produkt?part=T-57184812

It's possibly a fault with the flaps\sesnsors that mix hot\cold air. Flap copntrol motors are a not-uncommon issue across many vehicles.

This is the kind of fault that can only be properly diagnosed in-person.

Thank you very much for your quick reply! Big Grin
Is there a way I can check this myself?
I don't think I will be repairing it myself, but I would really like to avoid getting charged again by the mechanic and ending up in the same spot... Sad

Thank you again for your assistance!

Have a nice day.

As I doubt you have stuff that would allow you to do actuator tests, the basic plan is,

- Find the flap actuators
- Work out which way hot\cold is
- Set to cold
- Check if actuators are in the cold position

As the heat in the heater matrix is controlled by an electric valve it is probably that which is at fault nothing to do with flaps at all.

I was told by my mechanic that the sensor was fine, are there more than one sensor? Could it be that he didn't check the one that is broken? My trust in his skills is starting to waver...

Thank you in advance for your help! Wink Big Grin

If you drive with the heat control set at cold and the AC off does it still blow warm air?

If I do that it simply blows room temperature air... not cold but not even totally hot, just room temperature/lightly heated.

Hi , I’ve got the same problem with my 2015 berlingo , I’ve had it regassed and leak tested , replaced the radiator relay and the radiator fan speed resistor and also the air conditioning pressure switch , still no joy , when I’ve pressed the air con button inside the cab , I hear the air conditioning click into action and I can see the air con clutch spinning so everything works as it should apart from the main thing cold air blowing

What are the AC pipes temperatures at the engine bay? If the compressor is running, I’d expect the cold side pipe be freezing cold.
