I've been trying since August, and finally been accepted for a class 2 truck job. Will get a start date some time next week. I can't wait, although, I'm a little worried about the training and exams I have to do for my ADR certificates (company will pay).

I'm sure that it will. Thanks Geoff. After being unemployed for a while, I'm looking forward to the joys of driving southern England on a 5 day a week basis.

Funny you should put that up... I'm definitely a country boy when it comes to music!

There's a big shortage of drivers atm so the exams are made to be as straightforward as possible.
I recently had a letter from dame someone or other transport Secretary inviting me back into the industry.
Declined.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

Which reminds me that I haven't watched Convoy since the 80s. Time for a refresh.

I've only seen convoy twice I think. Neither time was in the 80s.
Ev, I'm a mere class 2 driver, had plenty of experience on buses, although the cargo loaded and unloaded itself, it was a right PITA. Time for a big learning curve. Maybe I'll head to class 1 in the future.

I drove 8 wheelers for a farm feed outfit for a few years
Manoeuvring big rigid chassis vehicles around Welsh hill farms was WAY more challenging than the supermarket artics I drove afterwards.
Drivers were (sometimes justifiably) regarded as scum back then which was unfair on those who put an honest days graft in.
I hope attitudes have changed now but it's too late to try to get me back in the seat
It is on my to do list.

The Ruckers seem to always get the blame from people who have caught themselves out by getting themselves in the blind spot,or the trying to blame a truck for pulling out, not thinking about the extra time needed together moving, or stopped.
Paperwork to do at the office tomorrow morning, then it should be a quick start after, as long as nothing goes wrong.
