[Steering & Suspension] new berlingo rear suspension noise
#1
Hi all , i have a 2011 61 plate enterprise van with 19000 miles, there is loads of noise coming from the rear end sounds like knackered bushes but ive checked and all are fine . citroen have looked and they agree all is fine . spare wheel is tight and tyre pressures are ok . when i took delivery it did not make this noise untill it had covered about 400 miles. ive even sat in the back while my wife drives , every bump knocks. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well it should still be under warranty so I'd go back to Citroen and have them ride in the back. They should be responsible for sorting it.

Hi,

Personally i recon that citroen warranty and aftercare is crap, I do all my own work on my vans coz i dont trust them fools. Im getting to think that its just crap suspension, time will tell. Give me the old setup anyday.
She is 5 months old now and is just passing 20k miles problem free appart from the rear knocking.
About ten years ago i worked in the service separtment at landrover for 2 years, their warranties were gold plated. Everything was covered right up untill the end , none of this fair wear and tear crap that citroen gives you. :censored:

I have an 11 plate Enterprise van with exactly the same problem. A clonking sound from the rear end of the van. It's been back to a Citroen main dealer and they say they have checked everything at the rear end. (suspension, spare wheel etc. etc. and they can't find anything wrong with the van to cause the knocking.

Has anyone got any ideas since the original post was posted on this subject back in May?

Thanks, Vic

Forgot to add, 10k only on the clock from new.

Because the main dealer can't find the problem, it doesn't mean that a problem doesn't exist
or that it's not leading up to a major fault.
If the fault can't be found using electronic diagnostics it seems that many dealer's engineers
are completely clueless.
Take the car to another dealer and tell them the problem, they will be delighted to take a customer from a
competitor.
Also phone Citroen Customer services and let them know that it seems their main dealer is incompetent.
It is a main dealer's job to know the car inside-out and his responsibility to fix any faults.
The Older I get the Better I Was!  Cool

The noise, which occurs normally on bumpy roads at less then 40 MPH has been definitively tied down to the rear shockers. I'm working on a resolution to the problem and will post again when I have more news.

My 2010 used to do it and also skitter sideways on potholed patches-my 2012 does not-therefore Citroen MUST know of the issue.
Some members also report similar front suspension issues.
Athough I didnt get rattles from the front, the steering feels very different on the '12 plate despite the same type tyres fitted
Again Citroen must be aware. You dont break mass production without good cause.
If the franchised dealer is playing dumb (or has been instructed to do so... )I would aim higher.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top
